About Me:
I have been the Manager of many Youth Development Initiatives for various Chicago schools and community organizations. Teaching multiple media skill sets to clients is an integral part of my goals for implementing digital media programs. Being able to engage individuals with technology, increases educational competencies while learning to express, create and thrive in online media environments has allow me to continuously work toward digital inclusion, while becoming more prepared for further education and employment. My position allowed me to bring technology and people (artists, mentors, youth, ) together in a space to learn and create. Below is the 2010 JPL/NASA Imagine Mars Project:
Student Music Video featuring Chicago South Side Youth:
Imagine Mars Project: Student Music Video Chicago inner-city students compose a rap about the Red Planet after designing computer models of a future human outpost on Mars. The track is called "Bye Bye Earth," by student artists Chi-Town Royalty and the Media Wizards. They were inspired by a teacher and NASA/JPL outreach.
Recently, I have been working with youth who struggle with mental disabilities such as bipolar and autistic disorders. Being responsible for clients day-to-day guidance and treatment has been a new learning experience for me. As a result, I have a better understanding of what is needed in order to promote desirable behavior patterns and what it takes to teach important life skills to clients in need.
